The AFL Players’ Association is the representative body for the professional footballers of the Australian Football League. They provide a range of services directly to players – from welfare support, to education, to career advice – and offer spirited representation of the views and interests to a wide range of stakeholders, within the AFL industry and also in the broader community. In 2012 the profile of the AFL Players' Association has never been higher.
The Marketing and Commercial team at the AFL Players' Association is responsible for managing; the AFL Players' Association corporate partnership program, the players' interest in Licensing & Memorabilia, and staging the Players' Association events including the MVP and Madden Medal. Reporting in to the General Manager – Marketing & Commercial, the Commercial Manager will play a key role in driving the commercialisation of all PA assets.
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for identifying and building commercial partnerships to promote AFL players and assist partners to realise their own objectives. The emphasis will be on long-term partnerships and a need to strategically review and create opportunity for the AFL players generally. Following the recent successful signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Commercial Manager will also work together with the AFL in the management of the PA licensing and memorabilia program. You will negotiate and activate commercial rights pertaining to AFL players in conjunction with the AFL, clubs, sponsors, licensees and media partners.
Using your commercial zeal, you will grow PA events, further raising their profile and commercial appeal. The successful candidate will have experience in meeting sales targets and will demonstrate long term, mutually beneficial account management of corporate partners. A 'hands-on' role you will be a part of tight-knit team within the AFL Players' Association and be given considerable freedom to realise your potential.
