Background

Our client, a high profile global event, requires a Commodity Manager/Senior Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of a commodity procurement program, management of Overlay contracts and provision of construction cost planning.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement:
  • Conduct market research to identify commodities and potential suppliers (develop Overlay database and supplier contact information)
  • Develop a commodity procurement strategy based on current market place, commodity analysis
  • Develop and manage an overall procurement schedule in conjunction with the Procurement Department
  • Oversee the development and management of Commodity procurement process including prequalification stage, Tendering, Contract Award and contract management
  • Prepare scopes of work for suppliers and specialist support for Games Overlay projects; ensure consistency of quality standards and fit for purpose documents.
  • Develop and maintain detailed commodity budget  through Overlay Database

Costing:
  • Provide costing estimate and validation for Venue Overlay Managers.
  • Determine commodity cost analysis based on level of service, market place options

Contract Management:
  • Develop a Change Control Process and oversee implementation and management process
  • Act as the liaison between Overlay Design Team, Suppliers and  Procurement Department
  • Manage overlay contracts on all non venue specific topics

Sponsorship / VIK management:
  • Identify Sponsorship opportunities through the procurement process
  • Define process to maximize VIK use through Overlay process

Skills & Experience Required
  • Experienced in cost planning of construction for sports venues and event overlay.
  • Previous sport venue overlay cost planning experience of Multi-sport Games would be considered an advantage.
  • Experience of preparing scoping documents and market testing.
  • Experience of working in/with the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Cost planning related professional qualification with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Highly developed monitoring and cost control skills.
  • Highly developed value engineering skills.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills; Word, Excel, Microsoft Project.
